"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart". Hebrews 4:12 NIV.

You may say you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ-but God knows you better than you. For he created you, we, me, them and they.

It has often been said--You can fool those around you most of the time, you can fool yourself some of the time, but you can never fool God the Father anytime. The WORD is too sharp!

So what is a person to do? You have to seek after Father God and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit!

That is the bottom line.

Unless of course your content to live out your days on this earth in darkness of mind, soul, and spirit.

“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not” John 1:9,10

We ask rhetorically--who is the cakemaker? Do you understand what we are asking? We have learned about some of the ingredients--Three cups of quarks, two teaspoons of some protons, one tablespoon of some electrons, and then mix with some sauteed photons, but who is the cakemaker? We write the previous sentence somewhat facetiously, but it is the glaring question of all of mankind’s times--both past, present and future!

Not only do we want to know who the cakemaker is, but we want to know why He made the cake?? The theory goes in popular culture put forward by academia and scientist that it was by some random happenstance, a big bang, an implosion or collision of some kind. But it cannot be that by some random chance the ingredients came together to make the cake on their own; such that a chair became a chair on its own, an automobile became an automobile, an aircraft became an aircraft; we know intuitively and without much thought how these material things we are familiar with became what they are—not by random chance but by design from human intervention and by the manufacture again from human intervention.

Now apply this to the creation of the universe, the milky way, the solar system around the sun, and then humanity. The odds are too great of the chances that the ingredients came together to create the universe, the milky way, the solar system, and humanity. The odds would have a numerator of one over the denominator of infinity.  But that is what we are asked to believe about man, the world, the universe. That by happenstance, a big bang occurred and then “Wala” a star is born and life happens. That is what our great universities teach. And we are to accept with no critical thinking, that quarks, electrons, various pieces of matter did come together over billions of years to create the world of everything, including a thing that has a heart that pumps blood, lungs to breath, a brain, eyes, etc.

But let’s dig a little deeper, how is it that the thing formed over millions and billions of years, the thing that has a beating heart, eyes, lungs, and a brain that runs the human body, how is it that the evolved body also has the capacity to think, and dear we say has the capacity to love. Can’t be that the matter that makes up everything also has the capacity to formulate thoughts and the ability to love. For thoughts are not tangential, they are  not material and the emotion of love is not tangential it is not material. Too many questions for the physicists to explain the puzzle of quarks, protons, electrons, photons.

But we know the answer: we just are too egotistical and intellectual to state the obvious—the obvious being that the world, the heavens above, the universe, and we the people were made by Him.

Dear God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit

They tell me about special relativity, general relativity, quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, quarks, photons, the dancing electron.. they know or have learned about the ingredients, but they refuse to acknowledge the who and the why??

“Our understanding of the physical universe has deepened profoundly during the past century. The theoretical tools of quantum mechanics and general relativity allow us to understand and make testable predictions about physical happenings from the atomic and subatomic realms all the way through phenomena occurring on the scales of galaxies, clusters of galaxies, and beyond to the structures of the whole universe itself. This is a monumental achievement. It is truly inspiring that beings confined to one planet orbiting a run-of-the-mill star in the far edges of a fairly ordinary galaxy have been able, through thought and experiment, to ascertain and comprehend some of the most mysterious characteristics of the physical universe. Nevertheless, physicists by their nature will not be satisfied until they feel that the deepest and most fundamental understanding of the universe has been unveiled. This is what Stephen Hawking has alluded to as a first sign toward knowing “the mind of God”. The Elegant Universe, Brian Greene, 1999, pg. 117.

The previous paragraph was stated in a book called the “Elegant Universe”. The author is correct in one aspect--when one takes the time to turn off the electronics, and sits quietly contemplating the vastness of the universe one can conclude it is amazing, but the author’s conclusion that this is the first sign toward knowing “the mind of God” is an opinion and not shared by all.

We agree more with A.W. Tozier: “Such truths as men discover in the earth beneath and in the astronomic heavens above are properly not truths but facts. We call them truths, as I do here, but they are no more than parts of the jigsaw puzzle of the universe, and when correctly fitted together they provide at least a hint of what the vaster picture is like. But I repeat, they are not truth, and more important, they are not the truth, for the truth is not a composite of thoughts and things. The truth should be spelled with a capital T, for it is nothing less than the Son of God, the Second Person of the blessed Godhead.”

Here lies the corpse of John Remorse;

The fate of every soul

of course.

He breathed his last;

His soul departed.

And left the shell from which

he started.

So remember folks the total cost.

For a soul and spirit that

may be lost.

Heaven or hell the choice is clear.

Hurry now the choice is near.

The Power to Change Lives:

If you want to talk about "changed lives", then read about Paul, (the previous persecutor of Christians formerly known as Saul). Paul was ruthless, in fact he was and still is ascribed as being the enabler in the stoning of Stephen as recorded in the Book of Acts. But the road to Damascus changed Paul, not just a little, but drastically. A "changed life" by the power of Jesus Christ. This is not flowery speech, but merely an observation--Paul's life was changed big time.

Paul went from persecuting Christians to writing: "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three, but the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 12:13. How is that possible to change from zealot of hunting down and persecuting Christians to writing the aforementioned words. Paul's life was changed from persecutor to a zealot for Jesus Christ, no denying Paul was different after his visit from Jesus Christ, it is a fact.

Over the last thirty years or so, we have witnessed "lives changed". Some for the worse and some for the better. The common ingredient we have noticed in the change for the better was the belief in Jesus Christ. Again, this is not flowery speech, but merely an observation.

"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life--

the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you, that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us--

that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us, and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

And these things we write to you, that your joy may be full." 1 John 1:1-4.

No exact date can be ascribed to when John the Apostle wrote these words. What is John talking about? What is the take away?--John the Apostle was physically with Jesus Christ, possibly shook hands, rubbed elbows, ate meals, walked and talked with Jesus Christ for maybe three years. And then toward the end of Jesus's short life, watched Christ crucified, died, buried, resurrected and then spent another forty days with Jesus Christ on this planet. Then after the fortieth day John witnessed the ascension of Jesus Christ into the air above and into a cloud, never to be seen again.

Fact or fable? Again as Martin Luther stated approximately fifteen hundred some odd years later: every man must do their own believing and dying--or words to that effect. As they say in Maine--"you can't get there from here", and we would add--unless you have faith.

"We finish our years like a sigh. The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow. For it is soon cutoff, and we fly away." Psalm 90:9-10.

We, and you--have often said "what a beautiful sunset". And we can both agree, it is. But we often, as of late, look at that sunset as it goes over the horizon and think, "well another one in the bucket".

"Another one in the bucket". Think hard! Outside the veneer of this world--whether you believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ the resurrected Son, the Holy Spirit or even if you believe in just the "here and now"--those days that are in the "bucket"--they are gone and only a memory is left that will soon fade away.

As the seconds and minutes tick off the clock, and as the preceding scripture stated, "seventy years, maybe eighty"--bottom line--you only have a limited amount of days to watch those beautiful sunsets--and some of those days are cloudy.

So "teach us Lord to number our days" and teach us to look up to Heaven to Your Grace and Truth.
